Access to the world also opens up through language

Our children are the most valuable thing we have. It is the task of adults to prepare them for life and to give them skills that they can use later on, that allow them to develop and that enable them to develop positively.

Working with children is a great responsibility and demanding. It is one of the most important tasks there is. Children are inquisitive and curious. Our task is to satisfy this curiosity and make the world accessible to them. It is our responsibility to encourage children’s potential.

Access to the world also opens up through language. ‘The limits of my language are the limits of my world.’ This quote from Ludwig Wittgenstein shows us what language is all about. Thinking and language are connected. Expressing oneself, communicating, expressing wishes and concerns, reflecting on things, discussing and debating – all of this is what makes an individual human being.

‘The more languages you speak, the greater a person you are(.)’, says a Georgian proverb. It is an infinite wealth to speak several languages. Each language opens up insights into another world. Multilingualism can contribute to tolerance and openness. This value must be recognised in our society.

The STARTKLAR team wants to make all of this possible for the children. The response to our work shows us that our daily efforts and commitment are well invested. We will continue and focus on the youngest among us. We want them to be strong, confident and compassionate as they look to the future.

Thank you for your support!
