Our STARTKLAR language development concept

STARTKLAR not only promotes children’s linguistic development, but also their enjoyment of learning.
Children experience language as a lively part of their everyday lives – and that makes all the difference.

The STARTKLAR concept is based on a combination of different language development methods, targeted language development goals and multisensory learning and movement.

  • Everyday integrated language development: By embedding language in real everyday situations, children experience words and structures in a natural, meaningful context.

  • Targeted linguistic learning objectives: The method also pursues the targeted promotion of specific grammatical phenomena. The language development goal is based on the children’s language level. The children are introduced to the target language grammatical phenomenon in clearly defined input situations. They then practise, for example, the use of separable verbs or the accusative in various games that are designed to be varied and practical.

  • Multi-sensory learning: A central element of the concept is the linking of language with movement and sensory experiences. Children experience language with all their senses – they touch, see, smell and act. This brings language acquisition to life and supports the lasting memorisation of content.

For example, when it comes to washing clothes,
children can touch and hang up real items of clothing and actively form sentences such as ‘I’m hanging up my trousers’.

With the topic ‘Flowers and spring’, the children can use real flowers, touch and feel the soil and the flowers. These multi-sensory connections not only facilitate access to language, but also make
learning more exciting and effective.

Words and structures are thus combined with odours, sounds or feelings.

  • Deep anchoring:
When language is linked to sensory impressions and actions, the brain activates several areas that work together to memorise it. This improves long-term memory performance and facilitates recall

  • Motivation and attention:
Movement and sensory experiences make learning exciting and keep children attentive

>> Natural language acquisition: children acquire language through active participation in everyday life

>> Sustainable vocabulary building: Repetition and sensory experiences deepen learning success

>> Development of key competences: language support strengthens self-confidence, social skills and cultural participation
